Judas Iscariot
Judas was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus. He is persuaded by Satan to betray Jesus and tells the Jewish authorities that for thirty pieces of silver he will help them arrest Jesus. The authorities were told that Judas would identify Jesus with a kiss. On the night of the Last Supper, as Jesus and his twelve disciples were in the Garden of Gethsemane, Judas kissed Jesus and Jesus was arrested.
Character Identification
Judas Iscariot- traitor, one of twelve disciples
Jesus- Son of God, all righteous and pure
Jewish Authorities- were trying to kill Jesus because he was getting too powerful
Satan- determined to overthrow God

Peter Pettigrew = Judas Iscariot
Lily and James Potter = Jesus
Peter Pettigrew acts as Judas figure when he betrays his former friends Lily and James Potter, an act that eventually leads to his friends’ deaths. Because Lord Voldemort, the antagonist of the novel, seeks to destroy Lily and James Potter, the location of the Potter family is hidden. Much like Judas’ relationship with Jesus, Peter Pettigrew had once been among Lily and James’ closest friends. Peter Pettigrew, however, betrays his former friends by giving their location the Lord Voldemort, as Judas told the Jewish Authorities how they should arrest Jesus. Both of the betrayals eventually lead to the death of those loved by a majority and both of the victims were thought to be too powerful.
