Kiss (Judas Kiss)
Summary:
Judas Iscariot is one of the twelve disciplines chosen by Jesus Christ. He is seen as a thief and traitor. Since he is the treasurer for the disciplines, he is in charge of the money bag. Thus, he has the control over the bag. It is said that he does not help the poor by using the money inside the bag. Instead, he uses the money that is supposed to help the poor. In addition, he is known as the traitor because he betrays Jesus’ identity to the high priests whom he receives thirty pieces of silver from. In order to tell which person is Jesus, Judas tells the old priests to see whom he will kiss. When Judas kisses Jesus, the old priests know the real identity and capture Jesus. The kiss from Judas is later known as the Judas Kiss. Feeling with guilt, he tries to return the money to the old priests but the old priests refuses to take the money back. Thus, Judas throws the thirty silver pieces in the temple and hangs himself. Since it is not right to put the money back into the treasury, the old priests bury the coins in the potter’s field where strangers have their final resting. From this event, the field is called the Field of Blood because the thirty pieces of silver symbolize Judas’ betrayal to Jesus. Jesus dies because of Judas’ selfish desire. The Judas kiss can be known as a traitor.
