a) Gawain is depicted as the greatest and most perfect knight, loyal, strong, brave, friendly, and incredibly pious. In the story "sir Gawaine and the Green Knight", he steps up to face a challenge to the king's life, risking his own. As he adventures to fulfill this challenge, he passes a series of tests but fails the last one, causing him to revel in his own shame. He strives for repentance showing his humility and knightly manner.
b) Han Solo, in "Star Wars" towards the end of episode four displays his loyalty and courage as he saves Luke from enemy fighters. Han realizes the mistake of believing only in money and strives to make it up to Luke and himself, gaining medals and wide acclaim for his efforts just as Gawain did at the end of his quest.
